Firefighters respond to Glasgow company after reported fire

GLASGOW, Ky. — The Glasgow Fire Department responded to a call at a convenience store on Tuesday.

Crews arrived at the Speedway located at 105 Lincoln Road at 8:15 a.m. after reports of smoke and a burning smell inside the establishment.

Firefighters located a small fire in the pipeline and extinguished it.

According to an investigation, the fire was caused by an overheated blower motor, which caused accumulated dust to ignite in the duct system. Firefighters shut off power to all components.

The Barren County Health Department was notified and recommended that the business remain closed until the department gives the all-clear.

There are no reports of injuries.

Glasgow Fire Brigade was assisted by Glasgow Police Department.
