Paterson Joseph brings one-man show Sancho and Me to Nottingham Playhouse

An actor who starred in Peep Show, Green Wing and Wonka is bringing his one-man show to the stage.

Paterson Joseph wrote and stars in Sancho and I: For One Night Only, a powerful monologue that explores ideas of belonging, language, education, slavery, trade, violence, threat, politics, music and love, and where these themes intersect with Paterson’s own history as a black and British woman.

He will be on stage at the Nottingham Playhouse on July 20.

Sancho and I, by Paterson Joseph.

Be inspired by the extraordinary story of 18th-century abolitionist Ignatius Sancho, who was born on a slave ship in the Atlantic Ocean and yet became a writer, composer, shopkeeper and the first black man to vote in England.

The evening kicks off with Streetwise Opera’s Chips off the old block, as part of a celebration of artists of African and Caribbean heritage at the Re:Discover festival.
