Northern Ireland youngster Francis Turley made his first professional appearance for Scottish Premiership champions Celtic and marked the special occasion with a goal.

The north Belfast teenager came on in the 63rd minute of the Hoops’ pre-season game against Queen’s Park at The City Stadium in Glasgow.

Turley then scored in the 72nd minute for Brendan Rodgers’ side, who secured a 6–4 victory.

Former Glentoran midfielder Turley joined Celtic in 2022 when he signed a three-year professional contract.

The 18-year-old could be included in Gareth McAuley’s Northern Ireland Under-19s squad for the European Championships, which start on Monday.

He was part of the Celtic under-18s side that lifted the Scottish Youth Cup after beating Rangers at Hampden Park.

Turley has also been involved in the B team’s formation and is one of a number of young players looking to impress Rodgers.
