Wimbledon to be hit by London tram pay parity move

Wimbledon to be hit by London tram pay parity move

A new set of 14-day engineers’ strikes are underway at London Trams (formerly Croydon Tramlink, and part of Transport for London) in a pay dispute. It follows a four-day strike in May.

Strikes are affecting transport to this year’s Wimbledon tennis championships. The station’s Wimbledon interchange with Network Rail is one of four termini on the 17-mile system.

Engineers who maintain trams and infrastructure first went on strike in March. They are seeking pay parity with TfL’s London Underground staff, who are paid up to £10,000 more a year but require the same qualifications and perform the same roles.
