Liverpool reject Newcastle’s bid to sign Anthony Gordon for £85m

Liverpool have rejected an offer from Newcastle United to sign England striker Anthony Gordon this summer. That’s according to Ben Jacobs, who reports that the Toon have contacted the Reds in their bid to avoid breaching profit and sustainability rules (PSR) to discuss the profit.

The Reds are admirers of Gordon, who were keen to agree a move to Anfield, but the price the Toon are seeking for their 23-year-old is too high. Liverpool felt Newcastle’s £85m fee for Gordon was too high, despite expecting a price of £100m, and are hoping to drop even lower.

A chance to sign Gordon for less would appeal to Liverpool after he made England’s Euro 2024 squad following an 11-goal, 10-assist Premier League season for Newcastle. It would also be a return home for the former Liverpool academy prospect who broke through with Everton.

Liverpool scout Arne Slot targets Baris Alper Yilmaz at Euro 2024

Liverpool have scouted Turkish striker Baris Alper Yilmaz at Euro 2024, with Arne Slot being a long-time fan of the Galatasaray star. That’s according to Graeme Bailey, who exclusively told Rousing The Kop that Slot initially kept tabs on the 24-year-old while he was still in charge at Feyenoord.

Slot has now taken his interest in Yilmaz to Anfield, with Liverpool using Euro 2024 as their chance to snap up the 20-cap talent. But the Reds are far from alone, with a host of Premier League and European rivals also showing interest in targeting his transfer.

Yilmaz started all five of Turkey’s games in Germany this summer as the Crescent-Stars reached the quarter-finals. He also featured in four games as a centre-forward, emerging as a versatile star for Galatasaray with goals and assists from either wing and even as a full-back.

Alisson Becker’s agent is speaking to Al Nassr about his transfer

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s agent is in talks with Al Nassr over a move to Saudi Arabia this summer. That’s according to TEAMtalk, who report that the cash-rich Pro League side see the Brazilian as their top target over Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.

Al Nassr are even prepared to pay more for Alisson than they would for Ederson, who Manchester City now value at £34m. But Global One have yet to convince Alisson to leave Anfield, despite presenting the 31-year-old with a “monster” contract to change his position.

Alisson is reluctant to leave Liverpool and risk giving up his guaranteed spot as Brazil’s No.1. The 71-cap goalkeeper is the undisputed first choice and remains one of the best in the world in his position. Alisson’s sensational defensive skills resulted in 11 clean sheets last season.
