Inside Manchester Airport’s luxurious private terminal with incredible views, renowned chefs and chauffeur-driven BMWs

Passengers will soon be able to enjoy a premium travel experience at Manchester Airport’s new private terminal. It will provide customers with a luxurious lounge, a private security lane and a chauffeur to take them to their flight.

Aether has been launched by CAVU, founded by Manchester Airports Group (MAG), and will open its doors to passengers on November 4. Located in a separate building from the main airport, close to the Runway Visitor Park, Aether is a peaceful sanctuary that couldn’t be further from the hustle and bustle of the other terminals.

From the outside, it looks completely different to the main airport, with a curved metal structure and a covered wooden walkway. Upon entering, passengers enter a spacious reception area where they can check in their luggage if their airline is partnered with Aether – alternatively, the lounge is open to bookings from any passenger if they are carrying carry-on luggage only.

Guests can then enjoy the main lounge area with contemporary furnishings, seating areas and impressive floor-to-ceiling windows offering incredible views of the airfield and the distant countryside beyond. The view is very different to what you get in the main terminal – there is hardly any concrete to be seen here, with the grassy area coming right up to the building.

You can relax in one of the relaxed leather seats by the window, grab a stool in the desk area to catch up on some last-minute work, or indulge in a read in one of the comfortable chairs. Attentive staff will be on hand to serve refreshments during your visit, and Aether has partnered with chef Adam Reid from The French restaurant in Manchester to create an all-day dining experience.

In some ways, Aether is similar to other luxury lounges you can book at Manchester Airport, but what sets it apart is that staff are on hand to look after passengers throughout their flight and provide a personal experience. The terminal will be limited to small groups at a time – around 8-10 people – so you can make the most of the space within your travel group (although stag and hen groups will not be allowed).

The lounge area itself can be divided into separate areas, providing even more privacy should the parties wish. It can even be partitioned off for ‘V-VIPs’ so that they cannot be seen before the flight.
