Everton transfer news LIVE – Jaden Philogene latest, Jarrad Branthwaite position, David Fofana wanted

My colleague Chris Beesley has provided the latest on Everton’s bid to sign Hull City winger Jaden Philogene.

Chris writes: “The battle for the 22-year-old’s signature is intense with Crystal Palace – who are seeking a replacement for Michael Olise following his move to Bayern Munich – and newly promoted Ipswich Town, who also have deals worth around £16million in the pipeline, alongside Everton.

“Yesterday, Hull City owner Acun Ilicali said of the race to sign Philogene and defender Jacob Greaves, ‘Yes, Ipswich are the favourites now,’ to the ECHO’s sister publication Hull Live. However, Philogene’s agent Ivo Camacho shared a photograph of him at the Blues’ Finch Farm training complex in Halewood and the ECHO understands Everton believe the player wants to join them and, while there is still competition for him, they feel the situation is looking more positive.”

However, the aforementioned Hull Live has also provided an update this morning. Barry Cooper writes: “Everton have failed to agree a fee with Hull City for winger Jaden Philogene, despite reports claiming the Premier League club had agreed a £16m fee with the Championship side.

“Sources directly involved in the deal have told Hull Live that Everton have not submitted an official proposal and, as of yet, the only firm offer on the table is that of the Tractor Boys, and it is this offer that City are working to complete in the coming days.

“Ipswich Town remain favourites on Monday, with Tigers owner Acun Ilicali telling Hull Live he expected Philogene to join team-mate Jacob Greaves in heading to Portman Road in a combined deal worth more than £40m plus add-ons, and that remains the case.

“Philogene’s agent Berto Camacho, as he has done previously at other clubs, posted images of him at Everton’s Finch Farm training complex after holding discussions with chief executive Kevin Thirwell, but suggestions from Merseyside that the Toffees have agreed a deal are far from the truth, with Portman Road the only likely destination for the pair.”
