Derby County close to deal for Ebou Adams as Bulut confirms omission

Derby County appear to be closing in on Ebou Adams, with Erol Bulut claiming he missed Cardiff City’s last friendly due to an impending transfer.

Derby County made the right decision to sign midfielder Adams on loan in January.

Bringing him in from Cardiff City, the Rams saw the Gambian international become a key figure in the middle of the park almost instantly. Adams secured a regular place in Paul Warne’s first team and was a major influence as they ended their two-year stay in League One.

As such, speculation over a permanent deal for the Cardiff City man has been rife. Fans have been clamoring for his return, but there has been no breakthrough.

Now, however, it appears Derby County are edging ever closer to a deal.

As cited by BBC Sport, Cardiff City boss Erol Bulut confirmed that Adams has been omitted from the latest friendly against Kidderminster Harriers due to an impending transfer with an offer from the Rams on the table. He said:

“As far as I know, we had an offer from Derby County but nothing was finalised, so until that point Ebou Adams is still a Cardiff City player.

“We didn’t want to risk him (against Kidderminster) because we are close (to a deal) but in football you never know. Things can not be done and today we don’t use him but tomorrow is another day, we never know.”
