An independent pizza chain has confirmed that its newest outlet will open in Cardiff city centre on Wednesday 16 August.

To celebrate the group’s opening, Pizza Pilgrims will be offering 1,000 free slices of pizza to customers on Monday, August 5th from 12pm.

The team at Pizza Pilgrims have been serving the brand’s Neapolitan-style pizza in London and beyond since 2012. Their signature 72-hour double-fermented soft dough makes for light and chewy pizzas. The Cardiff site will offer the same variations on much-loved classics, including the Margherita Extra-Extra – a classic Margherita with added Piennolo tomatoes, a whole creamy burrata and fresh basil pesto; as well as the Carbonara pizza, topped with guanciale, Pecorino, egg yolk and finished with strands of al dente pasta.

Bringing the Amalfi Coast to Cardiff

The Cardiff pizzeria is designed to transport customers to the Amalfi Coast. The interior features colorful tiles, a bar that resembles a beach shop, a speedboat cabin table and a sparkling water fountain, all centered around Pizza Pilgrims’ giant pizza oven.

Outside, giant striped awnings will wrap around the corner opposite Cardiff Castle, creating a terrace where guests can enjoy slices and spritzes in the sunshine. The venue offers 90 indoor and 48 outdoor seating, with additional space for reservations and walk-ins.

“We’re thrilled to be joining Cardiff’s thriving restaurant scene,” says co-founder James Elliot. “The city has a fantastic Italian culinary heritage, and we can’t wait to bring a slice of Napoli to Cardiff. Our goal is to create a fun and welcoming pizzeria where people can enjoy great food and feel like they’re on holiday in Southern Italy.”
