Dora JarBehind The Curtain Tour, September 22

Every now and then a live show jumps off the calendar as an absolutely unmissable event, and that’s what we have here as Dora Jar plays Allston’s Brighton Music Hall on September 22. The New York-born, Los Angeles-raised folk-pop existentialist is poised to become the next big thing, and a casual listen to the cinematic new single “Timelapse” quickly shows why. Dora’s debut album of psychedelic dark-pop fantasy There’s no relaxing when you’re on fire comes out just nine days before the tour kicks off here in Boston, so the buzz should be palpable when she hits the Brighton Avenue stage — even if everyone has a hard time pinpointing the record. “It might be the opposite for me, because everyone identifies with themselves and each other,” Dora says of the album. “But I have a tendency to not stick to just one thing.” Don’t sleep on it. Tickets go on sale Friday (July 12) at 10 a.m. local time.
