Man dies in hospital after being hit by motorbike in Birstall

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a motorbike in Leicestershire. The man in his 60s died in hospital on Wednesday (July 3) after suffering serious head and abdominal injuries following the collision in Birstall, Leicestershire Police said.

The incident happened on Loughborough Road, near the junction with Sibson Road, at 7.45pm on Saturday (June 22). Police said a blue Honda motorbike, ridden by a man in his 50s, and the pedestrian were involved in the collision.




The motorbike driver was not injured, police added. Detectives from Leicestershire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the incident and police are continuing to appeal for witnesses, dashcam and mobile phone footage.

Detective Constable Madeleine Hayes said: “We know there were vehicles travelling in both directions on the A6 at the time of the collision and there were also people getting off buses at the bus stop, opposite Birstall MOT Centre, on the carriageway of the A6 heading towards the town. I would continue to urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police to come forward.”
