Police block Comely Bank Road in Edinburgh after possible ammunition item discovered

The public are being urged to “avoid the area” where a possible ammunition item was found in Edinburgh.

Officers issued a warning of a “possible weaponry” on Comely Bank Road in the city centre at around 3.15pm on Tuesday.

A Police Scotland statement said: “We were made aware of a possible item of weaponry on Comely Bank Road in Edinburgh at around 3.15pm on Tuesday 2 July.

“Road closures are in place as a precaution and we urge people to avoid the area while emergency services work in the area.”

A post from Lothian Buses said: “Due to a road closure, buses are unable to serve Comely Bank Road and will instead be diverted via East Fettes Ave and Carrington Road in both directions until further notice.”
