Tottenham man is the alternative if Brighton effort fails – Player advised over move by international team-mate

Tottenham midfielder Pierre Emile Hojbjerg is an option for Borussia Dortmund this summer should they fail to secure a deal for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Pascal Groß.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that while Dortmund are still pushing to sign the Brighton man, the Tottenham midfielder remains an alternative.

It is reported that Hojbjerg wants to leave Tottenham this summer and has signed with a new agency, Unique Sports Group, in an effort to make that happen.

He has just one year left on his Spurs contract and, after a season of underachievement under Ange Postecoglou, he is keen to move on. The recent signing of Archie Gray from Leeds has also likely pushed him down the pecking order.

Dortmund are among those who have put him on their shortlist, according to Plettenberg, who reports that the Tottenham man is one of several potential targets should a move for Brighton’s Pascal Groß fail to materialise.

They are still pushing to get the deal done and want to sign and seal it with Brighton soon, but if that doesn’t happen they could turn their attention to Hojbjerg.

Plettenberg recently asked him about a potential move to Dortmund and he remained reticent about the idea, despite his Denmark team-mate Thomas Delaney urging him to do so.

“It’s a great stadium. Now I’m going to take a holiday first, then we’ll talk about the rest,” said the Tottenham player after playing at Dortmund’s stadium against Germany.

“I would recommend (the move) to both Borussia Dortmund and Pierre. He is an incredible player. For me, he is a top international central midfielder,” Delaney added.
