Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall explains Chelsea move as he leaves Leicester City feeling like a ‘new player’

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall arrives at Stamford Bridge feeling like a “new player”, with the midfielder labelling Chelsea as the best club for his next move.

Dewsbury-Hall ended 17 years at Leicester City with a £30million move to the capital. In West London he will be reunited with Enzo Maresca, the Italian manager who helped him produce the best season of his career last term.

Following City’s Championship title success, for which Dewsbury-Hall won the player of the season award, the 25-year-old said he feels full of confidence and motivation to showcase his qualities at the highest level again. There is no “better fit” than Chelsea for that.

“It’s incredible to be sitting here as a Chelsea player,” he said. “This is a club that people grow up watching and hoping to one day play for, so it’s a privilege to be here. I’m really excited to get started and can’t wait to show everyone what I can do.

“My hopes for the season, first of all, are to win some trophies. That’s a goal for this club and we’re in a lot of competitions this season where we can try to do that. So that’s the number one priority.

“I want to play as many games as I can and try to help the team as much as I can. That’s essential for me. I want to enjoy the moment and seize the opportunity. There will be a lot of games this season and I hope there will be a lot of highs. The team is full of talent and has a lot of potential, so I know that if we nurture it well, we can be really dangerous.
