Newcastle want to sign Nottingham Forest for £15m but Nuno now wants to keep him

Nottingham Forest will see their squad undergo a number of changes this summer, with Nuno Espirito Santo looking to revamp his squad.

It’s been a busy week so far from a Forest transfer perspective.

Elliot Anderson arrived from Newcastle and Odysseas Vlachodimos went the other way to sign for the Magpies.

Earlier today, Forest announced that Brandon Aguilera has signed for Rio Ave on a permanent basis, which perhaps comes as a surprise.

Now, there are rumours that Forest could be facing a battle to keep hold of another of their star players this summer.

Newcastle still looking to sign another Forest player

The Magpies won’t stop at Vlachodimos and it has now been claimed they want to sign another Forest star.

The Athletic claim Eddie Howe would still be keen to sign Anthony Elanga as he looks to sign a right winger.

When Forest were initially linked with signing Anderson at the weekend, it was claimed the Swedish international could be the one to make the cut.

Elanga had a wonderful first season in the Premier League with Forest.

He was a regular starter in Steve Cooper and Nuno Espírito Santo’s team, scoring five goals and providing nine assists.

Elagna cost Forest just £15m from Manchester United and if they were to sell him now, the club could command a much higher price.

The Forest Holds the Aces with Elanga

Newcastle may be keen to sign Elanga, but that does not mean the club has to sell unless their valuation is met.

Forest appear to have complied with the PSR this time and should have avoided another threat of a points deduction.

With that in mind, the club are in no rush to sell their best players and that likely means Newcastle will have to stretch themselves.

Furthermore, Elanga is unlikely to want to leave Forest now.

He plays week in, week out for a manager who has given him the chance to shine in the first team and hopefully he will show his loyalty.

Newcastle had to sell Anderson to Forest at the weekend to meet the PSR.

As a result, they may have to keep an eye on their purse strings and we can’t see them being able to afford Elanga any time soon.
