Free pints for fans watching the Euros in Newcastle this weekend

As we still hold out hope that football can indeed return home and that England can put in a fully convincing performance against Switzerland, there will be a few free beers available at a Newcastle bar, whether to celebrate or to commiserate.

England left it VERY late on Sunday to secure their place in the quarter-finals, with an acrobatic strike from Jude Bellingham levelling things up against Slovakia with less than 90 minutes of injury time remaining. Having saved things late on, things got even better for the Three Lions when Harry Kane headed in the winner early in extra time.

That has set up Gareth Southgate’s men for a quarter-final clash against Switzerland, who have been one of the “surprises” of Euro 2024 after comfortably defeating defending champions Italy at the weekend.

Bars and fan zones in Newcastle have been very busy during the tournament so far and one place that has been attracting a good crowd is The Wonder Bar. A popular meeting point for NUFC fans on match days, The Gate has also established itself as one of the best places to go in the city for an England game too.

And just like it did last week, The Wonder Bar is teaming up with Heineken to give fans who support any of the remaining countries in the Euros the chance to claim a free ‘replacement’ beer should one of theirs be knocked out. All drinkers need to do is scan a QR code that can be found on customised coasters and posters around the bar.

This will take them to the HeineCare homepage, where all they have to do is enter some basic information. They will instantly receive a voucher to show to bar staff to claim their replacement beer.
