Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga and £3m Nottingham Forest star react as club announce new signing

Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of Elliot Anderson, who joined the club from Newcastle United.

The £35m fee has caught the eye, although with PSR backing the Magpies it is likely the amount has been structured.

Anderson is just 21 and Shay Given has suggested Forest may have landed a gem.

After checking in at the City Ground, the midfielder took to Instagram to speak of his pride in joining Forest.

Now, he has received some kind words from two Forest stars who are apparently excited to play with the Newcastle academy graduate.

It will be fascinating to see how Forest midfielder Anderson performs and hopefully he can start playing straight away.

Considering the high transfer fee, some fans may have some reservations, but as a young player, he has a good profile.

Following his Instagram post upon arriving at Forest, he received messages from Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga.

Elanga has been linked with a potential move to Newcastle as part of the Anderson deal, but he appears to have ruled out any idea of an exit.

He posted: “Welcome back, brother! Let’s get serious.”

Gibbs-White was next and he was brief and to the point, posting: “Welcome.”

Finally, Hudson-Odoi was also quick to welcome him to the club with a two-word message that read: “Welcome back bro.”

Anderson will be a good option for the Forest dressing room

At 21 years of age, there is a lot to like about Anderson’s arrival at Forest.

He fits Forest’s profile in terms of trying to attract young players and should be a good option among a number of other young players at the City Ground.

It’s good that some of the club’s top players have welcomed him into the youth ranks.

There have been plenty of reports circulating this summer suggesting that Forest may have to sell their best players.

However, it appears the Reds can now stand firm and demand big valuations for their top stars, with PSR nipped in the bud for another year.

Anderson believes he will have plenty of help in establishing himself quickly at Forest and hopes he can fulfil his potential in the East Midlands.
