Official | Lyon sign Orel Mangala from Nottingham Forest

Olympique Lyonnais has officially announced the signing of Orel Mangala (26) after revealing they had activated the purchase option in his loan deal from Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder will join permanently for a fee of €23.4m having spent the last six months on loan at Lyon. Forest will retain a 10% share of any capital gains on any potential future transfer of the player.

Despite having only made 12 appearances for the club, Mangala had already mentioned that he was happy in the team and that he expected Lyon to trigger his option. The club clearly believes in its new player and is enthusiastic about its assessment of the signing.

The club writes in the press release: “Lyon is delighted to see Orel continue to contribute to our success and remains convinced that his talent and investment will be valuable assets for the club’s future challenges.

Mangala becomes the second signing of the summer as he joins Saïd Benrahma (28) in a permanent switch from the Premier League to Ligue 1 after the Algerian winger left West Ham for The Gones.
